How to Avoid Giving the Wrong Birthday Gift

Author: Candice Pimentel

Having difficulty in choosing the right birthday gift for a special friend or even a dear someone? Remember that there is so much to offer than just buying the gift. Don't let the focus go away from the person being given. Do not just stick on what to give but on who is the receiver of the birthday gift.

The first thing to do is to really know the person who will be celebrating his or her birthday. The best birthday gift cannot be chosen unless a piece of that person is known. Always have a general idea of what they like. The details in their personalities and what transpired in their lives play an important role in knowing what they would want for their special day.

The very first thing that should be learned before buying them a birthday gift is knowing what they DO NOT LIKE. A person might not like having pets at home and it could be a worse thing to give that person an animal portrait as a birthday present. Research on where they work, their leisure hours, the kind of vehicle they drive, the place where they live, their status, if they're married- do they have kids, their pets if any.

They notice if the birthday gift giver took time in making sure that the gift is personalized and time was really spent in preparing the gift. When gift kind of reflect their personality, they feel pride about it.

A birthday gift that relates to something or someone that is important to the person is significant to the receiver. Do not be so insensitive about the celebrator's feelings as this would jeopardize the whole idea of given the person a birthday gift.

Do not buy a gift just because it would obviously show it's from the giver. Others forget this whole idea and they would end up buying a gift that they like instead of thinking whether the celebrator would like it or not.

For someone who have a very tight schedule, a weekend to a far country home would mean so much to a friend or special someone. That is because knowing that enough time is given just to spend the special occasion with the birthday celebrator no matter how busy life can be, is such a meaningful idea as a birthday treat.

But for a group who would like to give a birthday boy or girl a fun time because of a previous heartache or emotional trauma, never ever bring the person to a location where it could only bring back sad memories as it will only damage the element of surprise. Instead of giving the person a birthday gift to remember, it would be a nightmare and everyone will just end up feeling sorry for themselves.

Look for the birthday gift that really fit. Get that creativity and brains to work to avoid ending up in misery. Remember, brains and the heart work a lot better when choosing the perfect birthday gift.
